After the boy was hit on Perkins, residents are worried that there could be more accidents.

Any driver would tell you, Perkins Road is pretty congested, but try being a pedestrian. June Lyle, who lives along Perkins, believes something needs to be done.

"I don't think it's pedestrian-friendly because it's more of major road," Lyle said. "It's six lanes of traffic so... it could be dangerous if I'm trying to cross it."

For Justin Weber, who works across the street from where the boy was hit on Sunday, this type of accident is not unusual.

"It's tragic. It's a real shame when anybody gets injured," Weber said. "Perkins lately has been a real source of accidents involving pedestrians and cyclists."

After Sunday's accident, Weber and Lyle say they are ready for some changes.

"Maybe put up a pedestrian box with a light, you know for crossing," Lyle said.

"It would be nice if we could get something done about it," Weber said. "A lot of members of the community are getting injured on this road. It's a dangerous road."

State Police said the intersection is on their radar. However, they were not able to give us specifcs on the number of crashes there in the past six months.
