One man is riding around the LSU lakes on his bicycle for 24 hours to bring awareness to orphans in Africa.

Barton Pickens helped form the group 'One for the Orphan'. The group helps bring light to the deplorable conditions in Africa and does what they can to help those kids. Pickens says when he came back from one trip there in 2007 he knew he had to do something to help the orphans.

“We all got together and said we've got to do something with what we've seen - so we decided to get together and put what we call one for the orphan together - and it's the whole idea of what’s the one thing everyone can do for the orphans in Africa,” said Pickens.

If you'd like to get involved, there's a 5k run and family fun walk at the LSU lakes BREC Park on Stanford Saturday, Aug. 13. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m.
