THIBODAUX, LA — Thibodaux Chief of Police Scott Silverii is willing to try anything that bridges the gap between his agency and the community served.
“Sometimes you have to make yourself vulnerable…” said Thibodaux Chief of Police Scott Silverii while discussing Social Media strategy with his agency’s Public Information Officer.
Chief Silverii put those words into action by trying what’s never been done before. Reaching out to his agency’s social media partners, he asked for a volunteer to Tweet-The-Beat with him during Ambrosia’s night parade. The volunteer would ride with Chief Silverii in front of the parade, while using TPD’s social media to blast their experience to followers.
Justin Tabor, a local social media enthusiast, volunteered and was selected after meeting the criteria. By the end of the parade, the positive replies poured in. Some were not able to make the parade, but got to experience it from their couch. Others were able to track the progress and fun until reaching their locations.
In all, media blasts were sent out using various venues like Facebook, Twitter, and Blogs; helping pioneer TPD’s social media efforts. Chief Silverii is branding Justin a “Mardi Gras social media king.” A big thanks goes to Justin and all of our partners for helping Chief Silverii and the Thibodaux Police Department pioneer a cultural revolution.
