The search continues for the men police say tried to break into someone's house in broad daylight Thursday.

“I loaded our rifle and I sat on the bathtub and if they would have come through the door I would have shot them,” Katie, the homeowner, home at the time when the men attempted to break-in.

For her, a quiet Thursday morning nap turned quickly when she was woken by two men, attempting to break in to her Baton Rouge home. She quickly locked herself in the bathroom and called 911.

"They were in my bedroom and I could here them trying rattling the bathroom door but they didn't try to push the door in or anything," she said.

Police got there quickly, but not before the men got away with cash.

"I was kind of shocked that only within two months of living here I was robbed and like I said, I find this to be a very safe neighborhood. I find the neighbors to be very nice."

Thursday’s events have left neighbors shocked, and some in fear.

"Terrified more than worried. I mean, could get killed, or something happen to my kids or me. My kids need me," Melody Aryana, a mother and neighbor exclaimed.

For hours teams from the baton rouge police department searched by air and on the streets for the men responsible, but with no luck. Some in the neighborhood say it's just a sign of the ongoing crime situation in the city.

"It shocked me when it first happened a few years ago. But it doesn't anymore. There’s just people that don't have anything else to do," Wanda Stewart, a neighbor living across the street, added.
