BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — The Louisiana State Police took time out today to remember law enforcement officers that have paid the ultimate sacrifice.
On average, 150 officers from different agencies are killed in the line of duty every year. Since 1925, 26 Louisiana State Troopers have lost their lives while protecting people in the state. Corporal John Kendall was killed last August, 2011.
Today's ceremony honor's everyone from local police officers to state troopers.
Part of today's ceremony included a memorial poem read by a junior at Denham Springs High School. Master Trooper Adam Gray says he's planning a career in emergency response after he graduates.
