The Mayan Calendar says the world will end on Friday, Dec. 21. Some believe it, but most don't.

"I don't think it’s going to end. I think its pretty ridiculous," Natalie Normand, Baton Rouge resident, said.

"Just like in 2000, people did nothing because the world was supposed to end, so think it will be the same," added Cody Barragan.

However, local businesses are taking advantage of this phenomenon and using it as an excuse to make some money. Businesses such as the Londoner in Baton Rouge are embracing this phenomenon and using it to make some extra cash. Even party supply retailers are using what could be the end of the world to reel in the bucks.

"A lot of people do think it’s an excuse to party and I agree. I know I'll be partying Friday," Emily Normand said.

So if the end is on the 22nd, at least many people will be having fun when the time comes.

"I feel like were getting ready to party," Normand added.
