They came from all over the state of Louisiana to deliver one message to the governor; 'Enough is Enough' with the spending cuts.

"It effects everybody, whether you have insurance or not. Whether you have a child in school, whether you don't. It effects everybody and we have to let everybody out there in Louisiana and the nation if they'll listen, know this isn't right," said Kimberly Walker, a Social Services advocate at the Huey P. Long Medical Center.

Close to forty different groups came together on the steps of the Capitol Tuesday; they say whether it's in support of teachers unions or domestic abuse shelters, they need their legislators to listen to them.

"Education and healthcare. He's (Governor Jindal) chopped at it and how can our state progress if we're not taking care of our ill and we're not educating our young? Our state's not going anywhere," said Walker.

Theolonious Gage rallied for hours on the steps is a survivor of domestic violence herself. She also lost her own daughter to domestic abuse, she said she is now fighting for others.

"It is my prayer that other lives will be saved through my daughters death. Not only the fight to help keep these shelters open, but to also help get victims to get out of abusive relationships. And these budget cuts are pretty much shutting the door in their face," Gage shared.

She worries that without the safe haven shelters provide, others will meet the same fate as her daughter.

"They wouldn't be able to take advantage of because services won't be there and that's why it's so important that these cuts don't happen because every resource they have, they need them. It is a matter of life and death," Gage said.

The governor did support returning over $1 million dollars to battered women's shelters. He has continued to say he'll oppose Medicaid expansion.
