Holden visits elementary students to discuss the benefits of healthy eating
Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — Mayor Kip Holden teams up with the LSU Ag Center this morning to teach kids about eating healthier and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Today is National Food Day, and at Westdale Heights, Holden spoke to 3rd and 4th graders about the benefits of a good diet.
Students got a chance to go through the body walk exhibit that showed the effects of different foods on the body.
Students from six elementary schools, including Westdale, also donated almost 900 pounds of food to the Baton Rouge Food Bank. Kip says he's proud of their hard work.
“We honor you for all that you've done, for taking care of your bodies,” said Holden. “Go out and spread the word to your families, and let them know how important it is to eat healthy, (and) be healthy.”
The food drive is part of Mayor Holden's Healthy Baton Rouge Initiative.
