Entergy offering face to face communication as lights come back on

Entergy extended its office hours for customers looking for more information about power outages.

Customers went to Entergy offices on Saturday, often after days of calling the companies automated phone system.

"The radio's not as, don't have as many people broadcasting about the emergencies, and I decided to come down here," said James Grimes.

Linemen were busy on Saturday. More than 10,000 customers in East Baton Rouge Parish alone had their power restored by Entergy. Those whose lights turned on for the first time since the storm were grateful.

"We did call Entergy, and they said they should be there by Thursday," said Generatt Bell, "and they came a little bit later, but no problem. I mean, I'm just happy to be able to look at my LSU game tonight."

Entergy and DEMCO said they would bring to town approximately 7,000 additional workers to make sure customers got their power restored as soon as possible.

"We got the power on for our street," said Bell, "and everybody's just trying to get back to the flow of things, and just enjoy life again, basically."

Entergy expects that nearly all of its customers will find their service restored by Monday.
