Sheriff Sid Gautreaux and the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office will host its annual Evening of Remembrance for the families of innocent murder victims. The event will begin tonight at 6:30 p.m. at The Chapel on the Campus located 3355 Dalrymple Dr. Baton Rouge.

Sheriff Gautreaux along other local officials will address the audiens.

Guest speakers include Trudy Fourmy, the mother of Jason Fourmy. Jason's severely beaten and burned body was found in October of 2007. Arrests were made in the case, but charges were dropped after witnesses were murdered.

“By working together, we can help protect crime victims and build a society that respects the life and value of every person,” Sheriff Sid Gautreaux said. “This night is dedicated to victims and their families, and will serve to remind us of the devastating effects of crime.”

The EBRSO Crime Victims’ Services Division, led by Sgt. Carolyn Stapleton, assists innocent victims of crime in getting the help and funding they need. In the past year, the division has assisted victims in getting approximately $453,219 in funding for lost wages, medical expenses, funeral costs and loss of support.
