Easter meals and gifts served at St. Vincent de Paul

BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Dozens of people packed St Vincent de Paul's dining room on Sunday for a little fellowship and a warm Easter meal.
" I tell you it's really a blessing to get a hot meal. It really is. A hot meal means a lot to me and a lot of other people," Trudi Brooks, a diner guest at St. Vincent de Paul, said.
"It's a very blessed place to come," Shanda Gorman, a diner guest at St. Vincent de Paul, said.
"... I'm just grateful. I'm just grateful that they are here."
Kids gobbled up Easter Grub eating everything from Easter eggs to yams and more. Adults enjoyed the food to.
"Well I enjoyed the ham. The ham was delicious. It was a beautiful meal," Brooks said.
Outside St. Vincent de Paul were an Easter treats for guests. Kids got their very own easter baskets filled with goodies. Adults got gifts of extra clothes and shoes.
"If you're living out on the street a pair of pants, a pair of shoes, these are priceless gifts, and that's what we're providing for so many people," Michael Acaldo, with St. Vincent de Paul, said.
Acaldo said more than a hundred volunteers came out to make sure guests Easter was special.
"Easter is not as popular a holiday as Thanksgiving and Christmas, but we still have a lot of people that have given up this beautiful day to come serve somebody truly in need," Acaldo stated.
Danielle Metoyer, who volunteered with her family Sunday, said, "For me it's also an opportunity to take away from some time that you find special to yourself to help share with others. "
Guest at St. Vincent de Paul said they are grateful for the volunteers.
"I thank God for each and everyone that have came out today and the ones that have came out in the past," Brooks said. "I often think about them. I often pray for them you know."
