Drivers around Baton Rouge began their morning stuck in traffic.

"Come on now one wreck and we've been shut down since five o'clock this morning," said driver Ursula Green.

Traffic had not gotten any better by mid afternoon.

"You know they angry," said Green. "You know they angry and they cussing people out."

"We just made the ugly decision to come this way," said driver Jim Utz. "Now I'm thinking we should have stayed at work and kept right on working. I don't think we are going anywhere anytime soon."

The gridlock impacted everyone from parents dropping their kids off at school to people trying to get to meetings and appointments.

"All day my clients been late all day long," said Green. "I'm on my way trying to get to a client right now and he's late."

"Outrageous this is total chaos," said driver Dorothy Jackson. "It's total chaos, but i'm going to make my meeting on time."

The frustrated drivers say the chaos on the road should send a strong message to state officials.

"We have to do better," said Green. "They are fixing up all our roads. All our roads raggedy. Everything is tore up, so we still don't have no way to go. "
