The DOTD met with the community tonight tonight to discuss the progress of construction through Livingston Parish.

Drivers in that area are no strangers to construction on the Interstate, and the congestion it causes.

Right now, the DOTD is working to widen the Interstate to six lanes between O'Neal and Juban. That project is set to wrap up later this year.

Bill Grass with the "Geaux Wider" program says it's important to keep people informed as projects begin to grow. "The thing is that we don't want people going on the interstate and discovering a road they were unaware about," said Grass. "So, we want you to know what's going on so they can take alternative routes if necessary. "

"It's going to take time little bit of growing pains involved, but all in all it seems to be better on 12 than 10," said Interstate-12 user, Chris Gallond.

Up next the state will extend the I-12 widening project from the Walker Interchange East towards Satsuma.
It's all part of the DOTD's "Geaux Wider" Initiative.
