Dancers show off at Honeybees auditions

The New Orleans Hornets hosted an audition in Baton Rouge Sunday for the Honeybees dance team.

35 women showed up to tryout for the squad. The Honeybees dance at Hornets games and help pep up the crowd.

Whether it was your first audition or you're a Honeybees veteran, dancers had to show off there best skills for a chance to move on to round two of the competition.

In order to make the final team a dancer must have more than a great smile and coordination.

"You see us dancing all the time, but it is a lot more than just dancing," said former Honeybee and tryout Brenna Gonzales. "It's practice. It's conditioning. On our own free time we do appearances. we volunteer. We do multiple things throughout the community."

"We're looking for beautiful girls who have a lot of energy , who are very out going, who are also great dancers, and who will be great ambassadors for our team and our community," said Honeybees manager and choreographer Ashley Deaton.

Dancers who make it through Sunday's audition will spend the next week in Honeybee boot camp and go through a final audition. Judges will then make a final decision on who makes the squad next week.
