Conference to help families of disabled persons get a game plan

GONZALES, LA ( NBC33) — Parents and caregivers of disabled persons got a crash course in creating a game plan for their loved one's future.
It's all part of the Community Opportunities Arc of East Ascension's "Life Planning for Persons with Disabilities" conference.
Presenter Theresa M. Varnet, M.S.W., J.D. was on hand to explain things like how to navigate the social security system.
Event founder, Sharon Morris, said: "Disabilities is a persons with physical mental and developmental disabilities. You can also get a disability from just having a work accident. So, if you know what to you need to do in the future, if something was to happen you would know what to do in case of becoming disabled. "
