BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — A spokesperson for Chili's Grill and Bar released a statement confirming the restaurant on Constitution Avenue is closed for now. The move comes one day after an allegation surfaced of a roach in the food there.
The statement read: "We take any feedback from a guest very seriously and are currently investigating the situation internally to determine what, if any, problem there might be. We regret any inconvenience this closing has caused our valued patrons at the location on Constitution Ave., but when isolated incidents like this occur, we voluntarily take swift action."
The station contacted Department of Health and Hospital officials to see how often the Chili's location on Constitution Avenue was inspected for health code compliance. Carolyn Bombet, Capitol Region Director of Environmental Health Services, explained in general restaurants like Chili's get inspected three times a year, based off of the items on their menu and the items risk.
Bombet said restaurants will also be checked if a compliant from a dinner is received. She said if you find something funky in your food call officials.
"We want you to contact the local parish health unit the trained staff can be made aware of the situation go out and inspect it to insure compliance and therefore ensure a safe quality food for the public," Bombet said.
A spokesman for Chili's Grill and Bar said: "We don’t have an estimated reopen time as of right now."
