Parents lined up at the Capitol City Family Health Center in Baton Rouge to make sure their kids safety seat was properly secured.

It's all part of national seat check Saturday and the national child passenger safety week.

Lexlee's Kids along with the Louisiana Passenger Safety Task Force  gave parents a free lesson no how to put in their kids car seats and tips to make sure they avoid common car seat mistakes.  Organizers say 9 out of 10 car seats in Louisiana are used incorrectly.

Lexlee Overton, with Lexlee's Kids, said, "It can make the difference between life and death. It's just that simple. Little mistakes that parents can make not even knowing that it's a problem can make a difference between a child surviving a crash or having minor injuries."

The group gave away free car seats to some of the parents who stopped by.
