CENTRAL, LA (NBC33) — Seniors citizens in Central have a new place to hang out and have some fun.
The East Baton Rouge Council on Aging and the City of Central teamed up today to open a senior center off of Greenwell Springs Road. That new center is set to serve seniors with hot meals, social activities, games and health screenings.
It's a building that took four years to construct.
"It's really a monumental occasion,” Mayor Mac Watts, Central, said. “It's important for our senior citizens to have a place to come and socialize, get together, get a hot meal and have some things to do during the day."
It's the first, and so far only, senior center for folks in Central.
