BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Today the Baton Rouge Fire Department held a graduation ceremony for its 2012 academy. The ceremony happened at Zoar Baptist Church on Friday, May 18, 2012, at 10:00 a.m.

Thirty-one cadets have completed six months of rigorous training at our fire academy. Upon graduation, each of them will have obtained national certifications in Hazardous Materials Awareness, Hazardous Materials Operations, Fire Fighter 1, Fire Fighter II, and Fire Equipment Driver Operator. They have also completed classes for Emergency Medical Technician and will complete the national registry exam soon after graduation.
