People from across Baton Rouge gathered Saturday at Healing Place Church to say goodbye to the little boy who inspired the city to be better with his last wish. For the family and friends of 11-year-old Trevor Sims, He was a walking example of joy and love

"He was like a little man trapped in a boys body. He was awesome he always brought a smile to our faces," Amber Graham, Trevor's aunt, said.

"He was undescribable. Really, he was just the most amazing little child I've ever met in my life," Heaven Slaughter, Sims family friend, said.

Trevor battle cancer for several years, but his family said he always had a smile on his face.

"Because, he wants to have a fun time with you, and he doesn't want you to worry. because he just wants you to have fun," Labreja Graham, Trevor's cousin, explained.

Trevor's final wish was one of selflessness. He wanted to feed the hungry.

"It takes such a man to say that. He was always worried about others. He didn't want anyone to have the hunger pains or feel the pain that he's felt," Slaughter described.

"He inspired me, because I don't think that I could ever thought about feeding the hungry in my mind. He changed a lot of things by doing that," Labreja Graham said.

His wish came true. People across the parish helped out, and Trevor collected nearly $65 thousand for the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank.

"He felt like a hero. He felt like he had made a change," Slaughter described. "He has he is a little legacy. "

"It's given me faith in humanity again. It shows how people really are you know giving and caring," Amber Graham said.

People came to Healing Place Church to show their support for sims and his family Saturday and to continue his mission of collecting food for the hungry.

Trevor passed away Wednesday.

His family and friends say the memory of the inspiring little boy with a big love for others will live on forever free from pain.

"I Love and I miss you. I know you're in heaven and you are not hurting any more. I know you hid it very well , but I'm glad you're not in pain," Amber Graham said.
