The countdown is on for tonight's high wire act over Niagara Falls. Nic Wallenda will attempt to cross the falls balanced on a two-inch wire nearly 200 feet in the air.

It's something Wallenda says he's dreamed about doing since he was a child watching his famous family perform high wire acts.

Thousands will gather at Niagara Falls for the attempt.

"It's more anticipation and excitement than anything. I've walked a wire since I was 2 years old, it's very natural to me," Wallenda says.

Wallenda is a seventh generation daredevil.

The Great Wallendas, the Fabulous Wallendas and the Flying Wallendas have been tempting fate since the late 1700s.

Still, but no one has ever done walked across Niagara Falls.

It's something Wallenda says will be on his mind as he tries to take an emotional step into history.

"I'm sure there will be some tears involved because this is a dream, something that no one in the world has ever done," he says.

Wallenda's sponsors have forced him to wear a harness.

"It's unique to me, because I've never used one before. It doesn't keep me on the wire in any way, it keeps me from dying. I still have to balance and I still have to walk that wire," Wallenda points out.
