It's the last time 160 plus soldiers will set foot on us soil for nearly a year but they're ready. Some say they're even eager to get started.

“I’m feeling excited, I am ready to go," said solider, Matthew Terrabone.

“I get to serve my country and do something I actually enjoy. I enjoy being in the military, going out and doing something great," said solider, Job Roberts.

Matthew Terrabone's mom says despite first time jitters, she’s more than proud of her son.

"He has the courage and strong backbone to go and defend our country," said Joanna Terrabone.

While some soldiers are excited for this deployment, others such as Sgt. Keith Varnado say there is nothing worse than leaving your family behind.

“I am not really good at all,” said Sgt. Varnado. “I’m just ready to get it over with and it's going to be a long nine months.”

But all these men and women know they have not only family standing behind them but the thousands of veterans who have walked in their shoes.

“We're here to show these troops that there is someone who appreciates there sacrifice and appreciates what they are going to be doing and hopefully they all come home safe,” said veteran and Patriot Rider, Harry Delaune

So for the next 365 days, the 1021 Engineering Company will serve our country and leave their loved ones behind.

“I am leaving behind my lovely wife Amanda,” said Roberts.

“My wife and 3 kids are who I am leaving,” noted Sgt. Varnado.

The Engineering Company will be deploying to Kuwait in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. They will undergo training in Texas before heading overseas for a 365 day deployment
