There is talk of changing the school schedule in the East Baton Rouge School district.

Superintendent John Dillworth said breaking up the school year into a nine week on, three week off format, would keep kids fresh and ready to learn.

He said the traditional nine month school year is counterproductive. Not only are kids burned out by the time summer rolls around, but once they return to the classroom, schools spend the first few weeks reteaching information forgotten during the long vacation.

He'll talk to principals and other school leaders about this proposal in the coming months
