A 51-year-old man died in a car crash in Donaldsonville.

Louisiana State Police say Ronald J. Skinner, of White Castle, died when his car drifted off the road way and crashed into a utility pole.

The accident occurred shortly after 11 p.m. on January 13, when Skinner was driving his pickup truck westbound on LA Highway 405.

State Police say Skinner was not wearing his seatbelt. Police do not know if skinner was impaired but a toxicology sample was taken from Skinner, and LSP are awaiting analysis from the crime lab.

Louisiana State Police urge motorists to remember the importance of seatbelt use. Police say the chances of surviving a violent crash rise significantly when wearing a seatbelt.
