Wearing red for heart disease

BATON ROUGE, La (NBC33) - Last Friday most people were thinking red.
Friday was national go red for women day, which means much of the clothing you saw around town that day was crimson.
That day made people more aware of the number one killer of women in america, Heart Disease.
This disease affects those young and old. It affected Alexandra De Oca days after she was born.
More events to support women in their struggle against heart disease is the Capital Area Go red for Women Luncheon at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Thursday, February 10th. There will be free health screenings, a ticketed luncheon with a heart healthy menu, and fashion show.
All proceeds go to the American Heart Association.
