One local artist puts a unique spin on fashion.

LSU graduate student Katie Knoeringer has spent the last few months adding odds and ends to her newest piece of art. She calls it her "Rat's Nest Dress." It's a garment made out of recycleable objects; soft fabrics, shiny beads, and lots of newspaper.

When asked about her inspiration for the creation, she said it was a mouse nest. "They look like a whole pile of nothing," she explains. "But when you pick them off, there's kind of a lot of stuff that comes off of them, so that's what I was going for."

Knoeringer created her artsy apparel for the UncommonThread Wearable Art Show. She'll debut the dress at the show Friday May 13th at 8pm.
