DENHAM SPRINGS, La (NBC33) - Over 300 volunteers have come out over the last couple of days to help build the new Kidz Korner Playland in Denham Springs.

The park is located at the corner of Government Drive and River Road.  Its playground will be only the fourth in the state that is handicapped accessible.

Kidz Korner is a collaborative effort between the City of Denham Springs and the Denham Springs Pilot Club Foundation.  The city donated the land it is being built on.

Organizer Terri Borde said the Pilot Club came up with the idea for the playground about 12 years ago, and have been working hard over the last four and a half years to turn that idea into reality.  She says the volunteer phase is done, but the club is always taking donations to help pay for construction.

Kidz Korner is scheduled to officially open in January.
