Veterans will get top priority at the Spring Job Fair hosted by the Mayor’s Baton Rouge Business and Career Solutions Center on Thursday, May 29 from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Belle of Baton Rouge Atrium, 103 France Street.

LeDuff-Collins said the turnout for a similar job fair last fall lead organizers to arrange for a larger venue for the 2014 Spring Job Fair, and extend the event for an additional hour.

Veterans seeking employment will receive top preference. Only veterans will be allowed to enter the Job Fair from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The doors will open to the general public beginning at 11:00 a.m., but veterans can continue to take advantage of the fair until it closes at 2:00 p.m.

Mayor-President Melvin L. “Kip” Holden is slated to officially open this spring’s job fair and will address the job-seeking veterans and employers at 9:15 a.m.

More than 50 employers and 400 job seekers are expected to attend. Free parking will be available at the Belle of Baton Rouge Parking garage to accommodate the anticipated crowd.

Participating job seekers are encouraged to bring their resumes and other pertinent information in hard copy format and to come dressed for success. In addition, this information can be brought on flash drives or USB Drives because the Louisiana Workforce Commission’s mobile office will also be available.

The 40-foot-long Recreational Vehicle has computer terminals on board, along with satellite and internet access that allow Job Fair participants to submit online applications to employers during the event.

Employers with current vacancies are encouraged to reserve a booth space early as space is limited. Participating employers will also have the opportunity to take part in an informative Lunch and Learn session.
