TX woman accused of attacking boyfriend with machete, hammer
LUFKIN, TEXAS (KETK) — Authorities took a Lufkin woman into custody Wednesday morning after she allegedly attacked her boyfriend with a machete and a hammer.
According to Sergeant David Casper, around 8:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 2200 block of Lakeview on reports of a disturbance. When law enforcement arrived, they spotted a man and woman, whom were later identified as a couple, in the yard. The man claimed he had been attacked by his girlfriend.
The victim stated he called a female friend for a ride to an appointment. At this time, the girlfriend, identified as Gloria L. Willis, 50, began accusing him of cheating. The man tried to walk away from the argument, but the woman grabbed a machete and hit him with the dull side of the blade in his leg.
The man told police he was able to wrestle the weapon away from Willis, only to be attacked by his girlfriend again--- this time with a hammer. He was able to take the object away, but not before he was hit.
After the boyfriend was in possession of both weapons inside the home, the victim went outside, called police and hid the items inside a barbecue pit. During the interview, the man also showed them his swollen leg and a small cut to his head. The suspect admitted to the argument over another woman and a scuffle, but would not go into detail about the incident.
Officers arrested Willis and she continued to yell at the victim. The woman also attempted to walk toward him during her escort to the patrol car.
The suspect was booked into the Angelina County Jail on the charge of assault causing bodily injury, family violence. Her bail was set at $1,500.
