TX man arrested after holding woman hostage with BB gun at restaurant

A China Springs man remains in jail on a $30,000 bond, along with a credit card abuse charge and a charge of assault/ family violence with a motion to revoke probation.

McLennan County Sheriff's Department arrested Christopher Donaldson on an aggravated kidnapping with a deadly weapon charge on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the sheriff's office, authorities received a call of a suicidal man possibly heading to the Bosqueville Elementary School to pick up his child on Wednesday. He reportedly made statements that he wanted to kill himself in front of his children. McLennan County Sheriff Deputies responded to the school, which had been placed on lockdown as a precaution.

Donaldson also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. He was also reportedly in possession of a BB gun. While in the area deputies located the vehicle that Donaldson was driving near the intersection of Lone Star Drive and China Spring Highway. The vehicle was abandoned.

A passerby stopped and told deputies that he had given the driver of the vehicle a ride to the Bush’s Chicken restaurant located at Baylor Camp Road and China Spring Highway.

Sheriff Parnell McNamara, Chief Deputy Matt Cawthon, Deputy R. Kirkland along with other deputies entered the restaurant at which time they encountered Donaldson. Donaldson pulled a pistol out and placed it to the head of a female using her as a shield. Sheriff McNamara was able to disarm the suspect after a short struggle. Donaldson was arrested and charged with the outstanding warrant and an additional charge of Aggravated Kidnapping and Aggravated Assault Deadly Weapon.
