As part of a project to widen part of Interstate 12 in Baton Rouge, the state will add traffic signals to space out cars heading onto the highway during peak travel times.

The Department of Transportation and Development said Friday that the ramp meters will force cars and trucks to enter the interstate one at a time.

The project will widen I-12 to three lanes in each direction in
a heavily traveled stretch in Baton Rouge.
