If you haven’t made it to the post office to mail your tax return yet you’re out of luck. The post office isn’t staying open late this year. Jon Fairbanks spoke to some taxpayers, who despite the change are still waiting until the last minute to file. The hours were changed because now most taxpayers are filing online.

For those folks who didn’t get a chance to make it to the post office and aren’t filing online, there is another option. The Louisiana Department of Revenue says you can ask for an extension, but that’s due no later than May 15th.

There will be fewer folks to process those returns since the Louisiana Department of Revenue is laying off more than two dozen employees after tax day.
