Synthetic drug overdoses force NH governor to declare state of emergency
MANCHESTER, NH (NBC/WHDH) — The governor of New Hampshire has declared a state of emergency due to a popular synthetic drug.
Manchester Police and local health authorities said that at least 44 people in Manchester have experienced serious medical reactions to the drug "Smacked" and at least 20 have been transported to hospitals.
"These products pose a serious threat to public health, especially to young people, and it is our responsibility to do whatever we can to combat the recent rash of overdoses," Governor Maggie Hassan said.
