Baton Rouge Police say Aramis Jackson, 20, was taken into custody late this morning in Violet, which is located in St. Bernard Parish.

He's wanted for allegedly breaking into a house in Beauregard Town and shooting Alexandra Engler, 42, and her 9-year-old daughter, Ariana.

Police say they were able to match DNA from the scene to Jackson, thus linking him to the scene.

Since the shooting, people in Beauregard Town have on edge, some even armed themselves. People NBC33 spoke with say Jackson's arrest calms some fears.

Meanwhile, there are details on scholarship fund for Ariana Engler. The family of Alexandra Engler has established a memorial scholarship fund. For more information, please contact Amy Whitley at awhitley@stlukesbrschool.org.
