The town of Sorrento continues to face problems as it’s now left without a police force.

The former Police Chief Earl Theriot admitted to sexually assaulting a woman while she was in police custody, giving Sorrento residents just another reason to be fed up.

With all the drama surrounding the city over the past few months, locals say it’s ridiculous. They are ready for something to be done.

"No one is doing their job,” said Jared Puryear, a Sorrento resident. “No one cares. They are just meeting their quota, getting their tickets, what ever they get to do. That's what it looks like."

Assistant Chief Ricky Smith is the only remaining member of the Sorrento police department.

Now the town will have 16 days to pick an interim chief.

After that, a special election will be held to pick a permanent replacement.
