The widow of a soldier killed in Iraq says she hasn't seen a penny from a memorial fund meant for her and her daughter.
Ashlee Cote's husband Michael was killed in a blackhawk helicopter crash in September.
Dozens donated to a memorial fund for Cote after his burial in Denham Springs, but cote says, her mother-in-law took the money and hasn't talked to her since.
Now Cote's warning others who want to donate to similar funds that their money doesn't always go where they think.
"We're all supposed to be together as a family...kind of helping each other through this and it's not happening that way. And this is one thing that's getting in the way to show things happen," said Cote.
Sources close to Cote's mother-in-law Carol Bass told us she is the only person who put money into the account, and she plans on donating it.
In the meantime, Cote says she doesn't want the money for herself.
She wants all the donations to go to the Fisher House charity for military families.
