Sheriff's office recovers drugs and guns
BATON ROUGE, La (WVLA) – An improper lane change and tip to authorities are responsible for three arrests on drug related charges. The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office arrested a woman with 18 lbs of marijuana, and a couple that were using their apartment to sell cocaine and marijuana.
Deputies with the K-9 unit arrested Shana Love, 28, of Tennessee yesterday morning after recovering marijuana in her car. The drug was discovered in Love’s vehicle after she was pulled over on I-12 for Driving in the Passing or Turning Lane.
Love has been charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana.
The second case included Kevin Rivers, 23, and Laura Coranes, 25, of Baton Rouge.
Deputies developed information that the two were selling drugs out of an apartment in the Brandywine Complex. A search of the property revealed 8 baggies of powder cocaine weighing 33 grams, 38 baggies of marijuana weighing 443.6 grams, a 9 mm handgun and a stolen 9 mm gun. Two digital scales were also recovered.
The two were booked in the parish prison.
Rivers was booked for Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I, Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule II, Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance with a Firearm, Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Resisting an Officer and Possession of Drug Paraphernaila.
Coranes was booked for Attempted Distribution of Schedule II and on the following outstanding bench warrants: Possession of Marijuana, Theft of Goods, Disregarding Flashing lights and No Driver’s License issued.
