Authorities are still looking for the man who shot an East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Deputy late last night. It happened at an intersection near Burbank and Meadowbend.

Officials say 26 year old DeWayne Steward pulled a gun on a deputy after the officer stopped him for driving a car that wasn't his. He then fled the scene on foot.

Officials blocked off areas near Meadowbend for several hours last night in hopes of catching Steward. The injured deputy is a 13-year veteran of the department. He was taken to a local hospital with injuries to his neck, but he is expected to make a full recovery.

Steward is wanted for attempted first degree murder. Call Crimestoppers if you have any information on this incident.
