A local church is serving up a unique idea for school lunch.
The First United Methodist Church of Baker makes more than 700 hot lunches every day for students at several private schools. They use a combination of volunteers and good planning to cut down on costs, which makes the food more affordable for parents.
So far, they say it's been a hit. Meals like spaghetti with meat sauce and pastalaya are getting the thumbs up from teachers and students alike.
The church uses any extra money generated by the meals to fund community service projects for their church.
