A local teen is getting ready for the performance of a lifetime.

Meet 13-year-old Sean Parker. He's a student at Runnels and a celloist, and he's really good. So good that he was selected out of hundreds of applicants from around the world.

It's part of Carniegie Hall's Middle School Honors Performance Series. Sean said it took a lot of hard work and practice to get there, but he is honored.

I didn't believe it at first. I thought my dad was joking, but it was amazing. I'm still excited about it. I can't believe I'm going," Sean said. "It's kind of nerve-wrecking, but definitely more excited than I am nervous."

"Once we got word that he was selected, we were very excited for him, but he earned it. He worked very hard, and we're very proud of him," said Dan Cassin, Sean's instructor.

"Anybody can do this. I mean, Sean did this, and lots of people can if they just practice and work hard and go after what they want to do, then anybody can do this," said Jennifer Cassin, Sean's other instructor.

Sean said he still has a lot of practicing to do before he heads to the Big Apple in June.
