STORMTRACKER 33 — Record heat was felt across most of Louisiana today. Baton Rouge tied the record of 100 degrees set on this date back in 1998. Lafayette broke the current record by 1 degree topping out at 100 degrees, the old record was also set in 1998. Very hot again for Monday with highs around 98 degrees or hotter. The current air mass influencing our weather is clear and dry and those conditions allow for temperatures to climb quickly but on the flip side they fall fast after sunset, roughly a 30 degree temperature difference between day and night. Posted are "Heat Safety" tips you can use to make this weather more comfortable and safe. Tab over to the main weather page and on the right side are the "Safety First" links.
Rain chances increase starting Wednesday and climb even higher on Thursday, looks to be our best chance for widespread rainfall needed for this Summer season.
