Pawlenty to run for president
Iowa (NBC) — Tim Pawlenty says he'll be the presidential candidate who tells the hard truths about America's spending and debt.
At a town hall in the early-caucus state of Iowa, Pawlenty told those gathered that America is "going broke".
He feels the country needs radical spending reforms needed to fix the country's fiscal condition.
He also said the "era of bailouts" is over.
"Our national debt, combined with Obamacare, have placed Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid in real peril. I'm gonna tell young people the truth that over time and for them only, we're going to gradually raise the Social Security retirement age," stated Pawlenty.
Pawlenty accused President Obama of driving up America's debt and failing to improve the employment picture.
