PARISH BY PARISH: Man safe after plane crash; safe roads prevent impacts
LOUISIANA (NBC33) — LAFAYETTE - A 73-year-old man is recovering after this plane crash in Lafayette. It happened near a country club Sunday morning. According to reports, the plane was having mechanical problems after it took off. He was trying to bring the plane back to Lafayette's airport - but didn't make it. He was treated and released. LIVINGSTON - It won't be long before the State Department of Transportation and Development works to improve Eden Church Road. The agency is set to open the project to bids next month. The project will improve the safety of Eden church. That includes sidewalks, turn lanes, and making a very controversial s-curve safer. Even though the road is Livingston Parish's Responsibility, safety concerns let the state approve $2 million in state and federal funds for the project.
EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH - More jobs are coming to Baton Rouge. Mayor President Kip Holden announcing the opening of the Baton Rouge Shrimp Company on Monday, Sept. 26. The place will catch shrimp from the Gulf of Mexico, then sell it in the Capitol City. The move brings almost 100 direct and indirect jobs to Baton Rouge.
