JEFF DAVIS PARISH - There's been discussion for two years, and now the town of Welsh has approved golf carts for street use in the small southwest Louisiana town. There are some restrictions though - golf carts have to be used during the day and they're only allowed during daylight hours; also, only two people are allowed per seat. The carts will even be allowed to cross on state highways. This new law goes into effect in March.

LAFAYETTE PARISH – City-parish officials are continuing with their Christmas tree recycling program. The trees are brought to a compost facility, then combined with other yard waste and turned into mulch. The mulch is free year-round for Lafayette Parish residents.

EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH - Baton Rouge police are investigating another murder. We're told 33 year-old Lionel Ehite died just after midnight on Wednesday after being shot in the 4000 block of Fairfields. He was found lying in a driveway. Witnesses say they saw a black man in dark clothing running from the scene, but so far BRPD hasn't been able to track him down. If you know anything about the shooting, call CrimeStoppers at 344-STOP (7867).
