BATON ROUGE, La.-(NBC33) — East Baton Rouge - The city council in Zachary has approved changes to the city's alcohol ordinance. On Sundays, residents will now be able to buy liquor beginning at noon. Under the current rules, residents can only buy beer beginning at 12:30pm. Business owners we caught up with say this is a good move for Zachary, and they're hopeful it'll keep more tax revenue in the city. However bars still won't be allowed to open on Sundays.
Terrebonne - A Houma woman is accused of performing a sex act on her jailed boyfriend in a public visiting area of the jail. 36 year old Tammy Ray was visiting her 31 year old boyfriend Wesley Trosclair on Sunday. Investigators from the sheriff's office tell us, Trosclair exposed himself, then Ray performed the act while other inmates and family members were in the room. Detectives say Trosclair wouldn't comment, but Ray admitted to the activity. Both were arrested and charged with obscenity, and Trosclair was removed from the trustee program.
Saint Mary - A Saint Martin parish sheriff's deputy has been fired and arrested on ten counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile. This all happened in Saint Mary parish. Detectives from Saint Mary parish, Saint Martin parish and Berwick police had been investigating e-mail communication between a juvenile and Mike Touchet. He's in the Saint Mary parish jail on a 250-thousand dollar bond, and he's been fired from his job as a Saint Martin parish deputy.
