PARISH BY PARISH: Car fire sparks murder investigation; Halloween decorations start dorm fire

LAFAYETTE PARISH - Parish Deputies are still working to identify the burned body found in a car. Deputies were called to a car fire early Saturday morning. That’s when they found the body in the trunk. The body was so badly burned that DNA will have to be used to identify the man. Deputies are treating the case as a homicide. They still don't have any suspects.

POINT COUPEE PARISH - Almost six-thousand Point Coupee Electric customers will be in the dark, again. The company is doing some maintenance work at a meter point. That means power will be shut off in parts of Waterloo, New Roads, Morganza, Quinton, and Erwinville. The outage will start just before midnight tonight, and should last about four hours.

ORLEANS PARISH - A New Orleans fire captain was injured early Sunday while fighting a fire. It started in the kitchen of a Tulane University off-campus fraternity house. The fire quickly spread throughout the two-story house. Crews had trouble fighting the fire because Halloween decorations made it hard to find walls and doors. the fire captain fell through the floor and injured his shoulder. it took about 90 minutes to bring the fire under control.

ASCENSION PARISH - Free sno-balls last week for employees of the Ascension Parish Counseling Center by the household of Faith Church's Touch Team. The all-volunteer group rewards organizations that help people by offering the cold treats.
