A Pennsylvania man is recovering after accidentally striking himself in the neck with a chainsaw.

James Valentine was rushed to Allegheny General Hospital on Monday with the chainsaw bar and blade still lodged in his neck following the tree-cutting accident in Ross Township.

"He was up in the tree. The crew got him down right away. It's amazing what they did. They're a good crew. It's just an unfortunate accident," said Dominic Migliozzi, with Adler Tree Service.

My husband is an arborist and cut his arm from the outside of his shoulder around the inside of his arm down to the forearm. He had the presence of mind to get his belt off and tie a tourniquet around his arm. He also knew he was too high in the tree for fire ladders to reach so he climbed down without help. Ambulance took him to the hospital. They cleaned the oil and saw dust out, cut clean edges to the wound, stitched it up with too many stitches to count. Then he went back to the job. Nuts!
