Chicago, IL (NBC) — The landscape of daytime television is changing after The Oprah Winfrey Show ended its run today.
The show came to an end today after more than 4,500 episodes.
There were no guests, no surprises and no giveaways, but instead, it was a look back at the shared journey of a host, her guests and millions of fans.
Winfrey stated, "Something in me connected with each of you in a way that allowed me to see myself in you and you in me." It's a connection that's created a two billion dollar business empire.
But Winfrey's impact has gone beyond the financial.
“Before there was Twitter, Oprah Winfrey made it okay to share your secrets, share your emotions publicly," said Ileane Rudolph of TV Guide.
Some of those emotions slipped through on this final day, building to the series' farewell moment.
Winfrey said, "I won't say goodbye. I'll just say until we meet again." And with that, she left the stage for the final time.
