Oil spill expert speaks out

A local oil spill expert speaks out against the federal government
claiming it didn't spend enough money to plan for the "what ifs."

LSU's Professor Emeritus Dr. Ed Overton says the northern Gulf region has been producing oil off shore for many years.

He says billions of those dollars were divided among all the other states instead of being reinvested into learning more about the environments the oil is being drilled out of.

Overton says current technology isnt up to par for this level of deep sea drilling.

So when this accident happened no one was ready for it.
