After a nearly two hour executive session, no decision's been made as to who will replace Charlotte Placide as the EBR superintendent. The last candidate for superintendent, John Dilworth, told board members there has to be change for the next superintendent to be successful.

"As a superintendent it is my job to work my central office staff and share my experiences so they become stronger than I ever am,” said Dilworth.

Early Wednesday, one candidate withdrew his name—Dr. John Covington, opting to stay the superintendent of public schools in Pueblo, Colorado. That leaves two finalists—Dilworth and Dr. Bonita Coleman Potter. The candidates faced questions from board members and the public.

"Would you please tell us what are your strengths and weaknesses?"

"That's my weakness trying to figure out how much change people can take how quickly you can do it without breaking the culture of the organization."

Expectations will be high as eight schools in the parish will soon be taken over by the state.

"The school board has a difficult decision before them and i think they are not quite sure which way they want to go,” said Carole White.

The next part of the process is for board members to visit the home districts of the finalists.

Despite this extensive search, the next superintendent may not be one of the finalists interviewed within the past few days.
